BUT I completely agree with the we are ONE part. So if you want to be friends with one of us and dislike the other, that's fine. But never cross the line to disrespect bc that nonsense is a quick way to the door hitting you on the way out!!! My marriage comes before any friendship no matter what.
@kimsnowden8593 I don't have to like my friends' spouses to have a great friendship with them not do they need to like my husband, but we must all respect one another. I don't expect the husband's of my gf's to like my husband or become friends with him or for him to like their spouses. It's simple: There are some people we can have as mutual friends but overall we have individual friends and I am completely comfortable with that. But if it were to be a situation where someone of the opposite sex tried to befriend us that would be a problem. All of our individual friends are our same sex. He doesn't have gf's. I don't have guyf's. Simple. He has a few friends who I am fine with him associating with but I do not like them. So I don't entertain the idea of getting together. If we do see them together I am polite and happy for him but that's that. No more. We can't like everyone we meet even if their spouse is amazing. It's just life.
Yes there is no reason for me to go making guy friends and the other way around. I do have guys that I've known from school and childhood. I'll say hi to them here & there but as far as me texting them every day or all the time having deep convos that's a no no to me.
Exactly! I still stop and talk to men I knew years ago if I run into them to ask about their families and such and my husband knows the ladies around his work place or local gas stations and he is nice, but he doesn't entertain the idea of friendship, it's just rudimentary good manners to be polite. He had a woman ask for his help the other day and he was fine helping her but he called me first to let me know and to tell me exactly what the situation was. It was regarding car trouble and needing a tow. Simple solution: Tow the car and have her get a ride with someone else. Thankfully she was able to get the car moving so he didn't have to help. But we have a high level of respect for one another and live by what many call "The Billy Graham Rule". It works and it keeps peace.
