The way my mom always prioritized things (alcohol and dating) over us as children. Our dad raised us and she got us weekends. It taught me how not to parent and pushed me to become a better person than her. I don't even prioritize my relationship with my kids father over them because they will always come first (thankfully he always understood that).
Wow im sorry about your mom and i know that must of been hard on you growing up but now your beautiful kids will never ever feel like you did which is great and your a great mom i do the same ! Lol kids first
no need to be sorry. She was always a difficult individual even as a child even though my grandparents tried literally EVERYTHING. I feel for them the most and not myself because my grandpa lost any chance of advancing in his career. Thankfully I had a father willing to do anything for us. As I grew older I've always thought my mother was the type of person who should have never had children. I can't remember even one happy memory with her and that's perfectly fine.
Kids, imo ,should always come first unless it's to better yourself mentally then it's okay to give yourself 'me' time.
When I was probably about 5, I went to a 4th of July parade with my family. Next to us, was a woman and her son who had to be 10, and he was in a wheelchair. He had a bib on and made a lot of repetitive movements and didn't speak. Instead of watching the parade, I watched him and although I was sad, it made me firmly decide I would marry someone like that, who needed to be cared for, because I wouldn't be afraid of someone who was so different.
Over the years I stumbled upon Occupational Therapy, and made my career out of helping people exactly like that young man. Of course as I grew I realized you don't have to marry someone to help them, like my 5 year old self had thought.
I really like to help people troubleshoot solutions and help them lead better lives.
Amazing story as a child at 5 you already knew your career choice and the way you told the story i can picture it in my mind and aww saw you as a five year old already pationate carring helpful and kind
My grandparents always instilled in us a thirst for knowledge and love of learning.
My grandparents would take us to museums and encourage us to look and soak up all we could. We went to Civil War forts, the Naval Air museum in Pensacola, WWII battleships, national parks, Mt. Rushmore, etc.
I’ve continued this tradition in my grandparents’ memory. As a family, we have been to an aviation museum, botanical garden, city museums, zoos, and children’s museums. I love and cherish these experiences, especially seeing things through my child’s eyes. ❤️
Probley my parents just being drunk idiots my whole life I knew I wouldn’t be that 😂💯 we didn’t have a car washer/dryer /phone anything they just drank we were poor and I wasn’t a priority I told myself I’d never do that to my kids and I haven’t
Thats sad and you know it prooves that kids as you where are aware listening and get affected im tired of people saying they just kids no they are people not just kids !
My moms alcoholism which made her abusive taught me the type of mom I didnt want to be. She favored my brother, he was the golden child and no matter what I did I couldn't live up to her standards. She beat me often, some things were on me for why I was hit but a lot is chalked up to me just living. She never supported me, she was a SAHM but if i wanted to do a dance team that was a fulltime commitment she told me I better figure out rides and how to pay for it. I'll make sure I do everything in my power to get my kids and pay for anything and everything if it's their dream or goal.
I moved out at 16, paid my own insurance, phone and car payment. I had a job since I was 13. Then if you look at my brother he's 28 still lives with my parents, never had a real job, is driving my old vehicle that I bought and gave them because there's blew up.
She finally burned her last bridge with me due to her toxicity.
Also as I watch my kids grows I would never be like my dad. He was a great dad but he never put me first. He had the divorce papers and my mom sold his house out from underneath me so he backed off on divorce. If my child is being treated like shit, I will find a way to get out. To this day they hardly speak though they live together. I can't have my marriage be that way.
Omg what a story and you trully did really well without thier help Im sorry you said no matter what you did it was never good enough and i also relate to that my sister danced so well but when i tried my mother would say i suck so id practice in the mirror for hrs and days and month just to prove her wrong ! And one day i did ! But what i didnt realize it she was just waiting on beaing judgemental but not being supportive
