I know it’s only day two, but I’m already over this kindergarten virtual learning BS.
It’s two teachers assigned to a class - so you’d expect one teacher to be doing the computer learning, right? Wrong.
One teacher is there with a phone camera just recording the other teacher teaching the students physically there.
It’s so annoying. She can’t even hold the phone still. 1/2 the time it’s pointed at the wall. (This pic attached was a solid THIRTEEN MINS. )
Today they are doing rhythming. There, I guess, are 10 pictures on the white board and some rhyme. Of course we cannot even see them. And then because of the mask, we cannot understand the teacher talking.
I totally understand that they are stretched thin, but WHY isn’t the second teacher doing more?
We are legit only left with blurry random live videos that are never scheduled at the same time. I just get a text 15/30 mins ahead of time saying “your child needs to log on in 15 mins.” or a virtual classroom like ABC MOUSE.
Like I said - today is rhyming, but the online class room? Only writing A-E upper and lower case.
I’m so sick of this already.
But I do not feel comfortable sending her.
There is legit no right answer.
I want to approach them and ask them if things plan on becoming more organized, clear, and more teacher to the computer face time, but I don’t know how to do so without sound like a totally bitch.

Sounds like only one teacher needs to be there so she Dnt need to wear a mask to teach and they need to invest into a tripod or better webcam ..

Look into an actual online public school like connections academy or k12. You might be able to transfer her over. That sounds like a mess and I don't even understand how they can expect the kids at home to learn like that. My daughter is in Connections academy and it's nothing like that. She's not expected to be on at a certain except for live lessons and you're given the time days ahead. You can complete the lessons on your own time.

It needs improvement. All of this is for the health of us all. I hope they can establish better quality learning. Feedbacks are always beneficial.

I agree. And I’m going to try and be patient. I highly respect the Covid situation and I play by the rules.
It’s just so aggravating.
I feel like the second “virtual teacher” is just piggy backing off the main in-person teacher for lessons.
Like she's doing alllll the work and communication and the second is just hardly holding a camera.
I'll definitely give it a bit, but mannnnn. All I want is a little more care for these at-home kids.

I slightly disagree. I think that if they get proper direction over the computer, then all is well and safe.
Of course there will be children who need more socialization than others. Of course it makes a difference if they attended pre-K or not. But for my child? She just needs a better teacher.
For us it’s easier to do distance-learning that way she can still see her grandparents every once in a while. If I were sending her out of the home… There’s no way I would allow her to be around her Health compromised grandparents. I think, for us, it’s better that she sees family rather than potentially get them sick just so she can be in a classroom. Family & health trumps being around kids that aren’t family.

we don’t see any high risk people so it wouldn’t be an issue for us. I just sent her off to her first day of daycare at the school today. They only have 5 other kids enrolled so far. It just doesn’t make any sense to me why she can be at the school at daycare but can’t be in her teacher’s classroom. What’s the difference?

you’re totally right - there’s no difference. I think California is taking staff and faculty into to consideration more than Nevada is.
Its all just so different state to state.

Wow. I would definitely be contacting administration in a few weeks if you don't see improvement. I'm with you, my daughter is starting kindergarten remote learning in September. They'll be having a zoom Q & A for remote learners and I will definitely be asking how the plan to film live lessons and for us to hear the instructor. I really hope things get better for your daughter. This is no way to learn.

I really think that the in person teacher is doing a wonderful job, and a distance-learning teacher is just being lazy about it all . i’m going to give it a week, and if things don’t start looking better, then I will reach out to the principal and explain my frustration. Because honestly, I was talking with one of the other parents on one of the lives were nobody showed up but us two, and I know she’s aggravated as well.
Like telling us to login in 30 minutes, and then nobody’s there. Come on! Lol. I’m also guessing that the in person teacher is probably getting irritated that the distance-learning teacher isn’t doing much work.
