I quit my job a year ago to stay home with my kids. My boss called me this morning saying one of the guys they hired to replace me is leaving and he’s offering me my old job back. The whole company has been working from home since end of March and they’ll continue til the end of the year. So I could work at home and he would even extend it for me so I could stay home and only go into the office for the occasional meeting.
I’m excited he offered but at the same time I need to decide if I want to leave my kids in daycare. I’d have flexibility since I’ll be at home but I can’t work a full 8 hour day with them at home.
So much to think about...

I think it's awesome that your boss immediately thought of you and made you that offer. You must've been a great employee. I think it's something I would seriously consider, especially if the pay is good.

@2sweetie I think you should take it after an honest conversation telling the man how grateful you are and that you'd like to give it a try but will need to be honest and say you're not sure how it will work. Go for it and give it a shot. You just may surprise yourself and your children may need a few weeks to adjust but I'm sure you can do it! My friend has taken her son to a busy attorney's office daily since he was a week old. He is now two. Schedule is everything for her. Her daughter goes with her sometimes too and she also works from home on other days or when the children are sick. They are the same age as yours. 5/2... Give it a try, see how things go. Worst case you give it your best and it doesn't work out. Best case- you find yourself the envy of everyone around you. Lol. But seriously! Say yes and shoot for the stars. What kind of work anyway? Curious. And best of wishes!!!

thank you. Yeah I do need to give it a try. It’s an insurance broker but I’m a graphic designer. So I’d work on proposals, infographics, insurance stuff. My daughter just got accepted to the day care at her school so she’ll go 3 days a week for 5 hours so she can get help with her distance learning and have some socialization. I can increase it to 5 days if needed, since I won’t have time to sit down with her if I’m working. For my son, I’m looking into preschools for the morning hours then I’d pick him up for his nap at home and have him the rest of the day. My boss said I can split up my shift if I need to so maybe I can finish my hours when my husband gets home.

There you go! You've got this! If plan A format work, move on to b, c, and z until you figure it out. This is a great opportunity that will benefit your whole family and those babies aren't going to stay little for ever. You've got this!!! Seize it and make it yours!!!

Yeah, figure something out lol, I would literally climb over someone for that offer right now and I have 2 kids full time too.

i feel your predicament though, because my husband and I don't want the kids in day care either, which is why I'm at home.
