I have GERD. I’ve had it off and on for years. I’ve used all the acid reflux meds on the market. Sometimes it’s been as simple as no hot spicy food for a week. It has varied. It did get better for a while after I hit 100 lb weight loss but one day it came back with a vengeance!! In recent months it’s hit me so hard that when my surgeon had me do a swallow test, fluid would come back up immediately and they found a hiatal hernia. Any hernia in your GI tract can cause more acid related side effects. Tomorrow I go to my pre-op appointment for a hernia repair and what is called a nissen fundoplication. Basically they’ll close the hernia up and then wrap the fundus part of my stomach around the esophagus. It’s not a cure all by any means but I’ve heard it helps a lot of patients. All I can do is repair this hernia and wait and see.
I have a Hernia in my diaphragm, I’m not sure the difference between mines and yours. Hernia can / cause by acid? I had back to back babies and my body is hitting me with vengeance !
@l.yesi, You and I actually have the same hernia. Yes, my surgeon said it can be a part of the cause of acid. Look up hiatal hernia and nissen fundoplication
Yes I have it severe it makes me cough often. There is a book that is said to cure you if you follow the diet low acid producing for a few months. Keto is also said to help a lot.
