Please dont judge but has anyone ever gotten rid of pet?
My OH once rescued a bird that had flown into his work, this bird became quite the metaphor and "helped him" whilst he was living alone going through a hard time, unfortunately when we moved in together the bird passed away. He immediately wanted to replace it and so we did. Fast forward 3 years and with LO and the bird will last 5 minutes in the living room before she is taken upstairs in a rage becayse she makes this horrendous repetitive screech like a dog barking constantly and it's so high pitched. I have sensory aversions to noise and my stepdaughter is autistic and the sound is unbearable. Once LO has gone to bed we let the bird out, she has toys, we switch up her food, play with her but the sound is unbearable, she's now put away upstairs again and lifting her water tray up and down so that it bangs. I've said for a long time she should go to a home where she isn't going to be locked away all the time or with people who have time to play and train her but OH was stubborn that thats not right but I dont think its fair to have a pet and lock them in a room where they barely see anyone all day. We have so many arguments that are exacerbated by having her sqwarking in the background, she reacts to any noise - opening of a wrapper and my god shes like nails one chalkboard for hours. Its like having a constant alarm going off

I feel if the pet is disturbing the child then yes. I had to get rid of our puppy as it was to much for me myself with a baby, as my partner is always working. I do have 2 cats but there 2 and well behaved
