To my mommy friends: what foods did you give your 8 month old babies? I have a set of twins who doesn’t really care for baby food as much. They do like the puffs and some teething biscuits and some fruits but not that much. My hubby gave them some tortillas (small pieces of course) but ever since then they don’t want none of the foods I give them. What should be good foods to feed them besides their milk? Btw they don’t have any teeth yet
Steamed veggies, refried beans, avocado, banana, pretty much anything soft. Small bites, whatever they want to try. My son didn’t like purées past 8 months. He wanted what we were eating.
Thank you I’ll try giving them some of these foods instead of the baby foods. They do watch us eat and know the motion on how to eat.
Anything that I had on my plate that I could mash with a fork or squish between my fingers. Their gums are very strong so soft foods can be gummed and chewed that way. Just nothing crunchy or hard, soft only. But literally any I was eating my babies would eat. At this point they don't need food yet. So it's ok that they don't eat much. Little bites here and there to learn how to eat. Any food under one is for fun as we are often told by the peds. Have fun with it!!!
@srs062010 One thing I would do with mine when they were small and we were trying table food was I would sit on the floor on towel or picnic blanket and let them feed themselves from the plate I was sharing with them. Scrambled or boiled eggs, peas, mashed potatoes, boiled and mashed carrots, applesauce, cottage cheese, banana, and in our house we had lots of curry dishes of all sorts! That was and is their favorite. Hope this helps give you ideas. My first born took longer to eat foods bc we fed her and babies her. Second DD took control on her own and we started letting her have tastes of food(soup, curry sauce from our dishes) at 5 months by time she was 8/9 months old we couldn't stop her! But girl didn't really take to real food in big amounts until she was closer to 14/15 months. They are all different, even twins, so just relax have fun, sit down and enjoy those picnics with them in the kitchen. My best memories of my big girl are from when I was alone eating with her in front of the stove in our tiny first home and watching her little facial expressions as she tried new things! Oh! And sweet potato is great! Have a wonderful and blessed night!
I let mine try whatever I ate after she stopped liking baby food. Try mashed potatoes, rice, refried beans, soups, eggs, chicken, cooked soft veggies...
