Not required but definitely recommended. My daughter went to preschool for ages 2-4 then went to TK. She is beyond ready for kindergarten. She’s already learning to read and do addition, both of which don’t even begin til kindergarten. But because of the pandemic if you don’t feel comfortable I would just try to work with her at home. Teach her to write her name then work on the other letters. Work on beginning letter sounds too. There’s a lot you can teach at home.
Not required. I didn’t send my oldest to anything, no prek/head start or daycare, & he’s more than prepared for Kinder this year....academically & socially. I won’t be sending my youngest either.
I think it’s up to you really. I had to get my son into Pre-K because of his early intervention needs. I will admit, even with his delays, being in Pre-K has him ready for kindergarten as far as the social aspect of it goes on top of everything else he does to be academically ready for kindergarten. I would put my neurotypical child into a Pre-K because I feel like it gets them ready for that longer kindergarten day as well.
It's not required but children learn a lot of things before going into kindergarten like spelling their names, counting to 100, knowing all shapes and colors which is things they're expected to know in kindergarten
