When potty training your toddler, when you switch to underwear and he pees and poops in them for several days, do you take them out of underwear and go back to diapers?
My son has been potty training for 4 months. Some days he does really well, other days he wants nothing to do with the potty. We just started him in underwear 3 days ago because I felt like that might progress him faster. He did pretty good the first day but yesterday and today he peed and pooped in them and didn’t seem to really care. He tells us when he pees or poops but isn’t upset by it.
With my daughter we never used pull-ups and put her straight into underwear but she was a couple months older. She did pretty well, of course she had accidents but it wasn’t a big deal.
Not sure if we should just stick with pull-ups. I don’t have enough underwear to be changing him 5x a day.

Hmmm I had that problem with mine. He straight up didn’t care. I had to pause the potty training for awhile. If he doesn’t care it won’t work. Have you tried a reward chart

Ok that’s what I’m thinking. We’ve been doing candy rewards for 4 months. Either gummy bears or M&Ms. He was excited at first but now it’s up and down. I’ll wait a little.

I’d pause the potty training for a few months til he is more ready. I had to do that twice lol. I started right after she turned two and it was stressing me out cause I thought she should be trained by then but I finally let it go and when she was more ready she got it down packed in 2 days and has never had an overnight accident. She was trained a couples months b4 her 3rd birthday. Oh and I’d skip on the pull ups when you do try it

Ok thanks! Yeah I think I’ll wait. I wasn’t even planning on training him this early but he started asking to use the potty at 23 months and I didn’t want to tell him no!

My son only gets treats now if he tells us he has to go. If we bring him there after awhile of not going he doesn’t get a treat. We do undies in the house and pull-ups when we go out.

That’s a good idea. I think my son is a little too young and he wants a treat no matter what, but I’ll try when he’s a little older.
