Hi everyone, i hope you guys are all are well and healthy. I need to ask you guys because I really dont know what to do. My 2 year old wakes up middle of the night crying and when i mean crying i mean historically crying no matter what i do calms him down noothing he doesnt even want me to hold him . He drives himself to a point where he is crying so hard he turns red his breathing changes looks like he is having a panic attack. He has no medical indications he is not on any medication. His doctor thinks its a toddler stage , but my mom instinct says something is wrong I literally almost took him to a hospital i was so scared he wouldn’t breathe. Please anyone know anything any advice 🙏🏻

Hey momma, it sounds like night terrors. I went through this with my daughter. I was worried too but her pedi assured me it was night terrors unless other symptoms where involved. She would cry and cry. Its a stage they go thru. It shall pass. My pedi recommended no tv 2 hours before bedtime. Maybe you can try that ?

If it's night terrors, he probably wouldn't wake up. We usually don't wake up from night terrors. Does he open his eyes? Or is he just crying and inconsolable but his eyes are still shut? Although he could still be asleep with his eyes open.

No disrespect to your mom, but I think you'd be jumping the gun taking him to the hospital. Are there any other symptoms? Fever? And just as a check, is he getting new teeth?

A whole lot of hysterical crying could lead to him being unable to catch his breath, so the breathing thing is most likely linked to the crying.

I'm so sorry, I don't have any good/useful advice for you 😔

@massgirl lol, I changed it a bit, but I'm not sure how to reword the eyes being closed part, so I'll give it some thought, and then edit again

It sounds like night terrors. My oldest had them st 2 and nothing could calm him down. I'd just hold him and repeatedly tell him I'm here and everything will be ok. If he started turning red or not breathing I'd blow on his face and hed catch his breath. It's pretty common in young children. It only last a few months with mine and it wasnt every night, maybe a weekly thing.
