Mom's that just recently delivered during this pandemic , I'm hearing some hospitals aren't recommending immediate skin to skin , what was your experience? I definitely won't be waiting a hour to hold my baby and hope this isn't the case when I deliver in the next four to six weeks

I've been asking around about birth experiences during this pandemic as well! I've heard some nightmare stories about hospitals testing and receiving a false negatives and not being able to be around their baby. 😩

I live in Canada and had my baby a week ago. They had me wear a mask to the labor/delivery room but after 20 minutes I took it off. I couldn't breathe through my contractions with it on.
The nurse didnt even say anything. I got skin to skin right away, and they even gave me some extra time. The hospital I went too wasn't very busy though and the maternity ward was in it's own wing.
Overall my experience was great and they did their best to make everything as normal as possible :)

That was also a worry for me was the face mask , I can barely tolerate it wearing in the store for the time that I'm shopping I couldn't imagine having to wear it during labor , I hear most cases they just have you wear it if your leaving the room

yah there was no way I could keep it on lol I tried and told my husband how hard it was to breathe and he just took it off.
I didn't have to wear one again even leaving thankfully.
Also I only had to stay the 24hrs so I'm not sure if the duration of stay changes things.

I wish we can just pop the baby out and go home but more than likely I'll be there longer than 24 hrs it's normally 48 for me but hopefully this time around is different

I was able to do skin to skin immediately after she was born and even while she was in the nicu for 2 weeks.

I had my girl right in the beginning and everyone wore masks and I held her right away . We were not allowed to leave the room . Once we were in that's it . But other then that normal process
