My 4 year old got tested for the advanced pre k class and passed the test! In Florida there is a free pre school program that pays for 4 hours 4 days a week. This advanced program is 8-3 Monday through Friday so they want me to pay $140 a WEEK. We can afford it but we would have to stop putting money away for a new house and stop paying an extra on my car and our credit cards.
He can still go to the free program but it’s not advanced. He is already starting to read, he’s known all his upper case letters, lower case letters and letter sounds for a while now. I’m afraid he’ll be bored in the regular class.
What would you do if you were in my situation? Pay for the advanced program or just put him in the regular class?

I would pay. The first 6 years of life is critical in learning. I know it sucks but it’s only temporary

You think so? My oldest did the advanced class but I was already paying for daycare since I was working at the courthouse and he went into kindergarten beyond prepared. I don’t know what they do in the other class

I would think to put him in the advanced class. If he's in the other program he may end up failing simply out of boredom

We paid for private (church based) preschool for two years for my son. He went into kindergarten extremely well prepared, and has been excelling academically ever since.

Yes! Same with my oldest. I had him in the advanced class. Paying for him wasn’t an issue because I was working full time at the courthouse so I was paying for daycare anyway.

We paid for my son to do it and he also did the free one and we live in Florida he learned just as much in the 4hr one but ours was 5days a week than he did in the full day one! My son is in advanced classes as well in school now. The only thing I felt about the 4hr is it was pointless because it’s inconvenient durn the day I feel by the time you drop him off you have to go back and pick them up lol.

Yes! See if I knew that he would learn the same I’d go free alllll day lol. Almost $600 a month seems outrageous lol.
