So today I realised Noah cannot pronounce his L's In any word. Is this normal? I know you shouldn't Google but it says the start to learn it at 3 and perfect it by 5/6years so sounds okay.
I just worry as the health visitors have tried to pick at his speech at every visit (Violets checks) but he was a late talker and only really developed when he started nursery regularly.
(Examples instead of lorry he says worry, lollipop - owipop)
Kylan was 4 last week and he still struggles with L. Speech therapist said they don't worry about the 'L's until they're of school age.
He's only just learnt to say 'Kylan' with the L.
He says 'lewwow' for yellow, and 'fwy' for fly. He will pick it up in his own time try not to worry
My middle son was the same! He’s 5 now and not long mastered it, he’s called Layton aswell so called himself Yayton bless him and my youngest can’t pronounce ‘th’ for bath he says baph x
Oh that calms me a bit! Oh bless him, yeah Noah can't say violet says vioyet haha. Think I'll try the little exercises try get him to start saying it, he doesn't go to school until next September so plenty of time I just don't like the judgy h.v x
@abbiiqx, mine was never worried about his! I mentioned it myself to them and they wasn’t bothered by it at all, some will just
Pick at anything, he will get there. Ooh yeh plenty of time to learn x
My son is called Layton too! He’s 8 now but did call himself Yayton for a long time. Now he struggles with “s” sounds xx
I’d recommend the same as above, make sure you have good eye contact and repeat ,repeat, repeat. Xx
@abbiiqx, I’ve been doing the same with my toddler so I know it can be hard at times to get them to focus but don’t worry about it, also it helps if you break down the word “Lol-LY-POP” so id say “look at mummy, Say LOL”get him to repeat, then repeat again to him and him back then the LY, then again with POP and then all together.
He will get there soon they’re still learning and sometimes it’s just their busy brains so lack of concentration xx
My eldest couldn't say words starting with "sm" like smarties.. she would say farties 😂 (funny because her Dad's sister also did this when she was younger) and words with "sp" like splash.. she would say flash! That was confusing lol. She also had a bit of a stutter but that passed too. For ball she would be like "b b b b ball" x
