There have been peaceful protests and nothing has changed. The protest in Minneapolis started peaceful and they were tear gassed. It honestly reached to the point that people said “enough is enough” and this is the result.

I honestly think people started by trying to be peaceful, and then they were mocked and belittled by the president. The officer involved got fired and that was it for days and days. I think people got furious with those two things.

And there has most definitely been a group of people going around in buses instigating violence. We had it in Cleveland and Youngstown where it was definitely NOT local people who started the destruction. We have to get to the bottom of that.

But also

Well I mean there was a peaceful protest in DC just now and I just watched them tear gassed and flash banged on live tv so the president can take a picture so theres that. Peaceful protest get us hurt. Rioting get us hurt. Being silent gets us hurt. Being black in this fucking country is EXHAUSTING.

Im glad there was justice for the woman you protested for though. Thats good.

Everything that’s going on is the result of not being heard. Ultimately yes looting and rioting is wrong and a lot of people are suffering and getting hurt but the ones for the blame here is the corrupt justice system and police department. I mean what else are you supposed to do when the people who took an oath to serve and protect can kill members of your community with little to no consequence? They have left us fed up and hurt so many times that many feel this is the only way at this point. I do think people tried to keep things peaceful but from what I’ve been seeing the police have not been playing nice. I watched a video of people peacefully protesting and they were still getting sprayed and hit.

I completely agree. Many of the businesses being hurt for the sake of helping black people are owned by black people and serve black people. The people who have been hurt want the painful experiences to stop and they think that if the other side feels pain they will stop but the reality is noone wins with this situation as it currently is. It's a vicious cycle that never ends. I have always been taught that two wrongs don't make a right and I believe that stands in this case. I don't know the answer to stopping the current situation,after all, the pain runs deeper than anyone can understand even those who actually feel the pain. I cannot pretend to understand fully as I have not been in their shoes but I know that God is all powerful and mighty, He created us in His image, as ONE human race. He never intended our differences to keep us separate or to cause us to hate. Our differences should unite us in a beautiful way blending the goodness we carry. I wish everyone could see the world from my eyes from my husband's eyes. Yes, we see that we are different colors, but that is what drew us to one another all those years ago, and what makes our union beautiful. We see our differences but they draw us closer, not to be used as a divider. We have love and never think of our differences bc we just see each other. We are not a color to one another but each other's other half. I wish I could take the pain of the world away but only Jesus can do that. Not every person of every racial category feels the same way or has the same story as another person withing the same racial category. We all have a different experience and story to tell. Sadly many have stories that go unheard and situations like this arise after the hurt becomes too much for them. I still say that hurting others isn't going to get us anywhere. We must find a different way. I don't have the answers but I don't condone violence. So many more injuries and deaths have taken place this week. And what has it done? Multiplied the anger, the pain, the suffering. People who were not prejudiced on each side now are and we are stepping further and further into the hatred we claim to hate. Until we all as ONE UNITED PEOPLE hate hatred enough to step away from it I don't see us doing better. This is no way for our children to grow up. Meanwhile Mr. Floyd's family is calling for peace in his name. Shouldn't that tell us something?

I was at that protest today! The organizers pretty much demanded it be peaceful, that anything besides that takes away from the message we are trying to get across.

I guess because I saw this protest go so well I didnt stop to look at all of the other ones that have gone wrong.

There was a peaceful protest today in philly and they gathered on a highway that was already closed down to traffic. And you know what the police did? Surrounded them on all sides and threw tear gas at the crowd from all directions. Peaceful protests will work if cops stop assaulting peaceful protesters!
