I absolutely LOVE my job. I'm a prek teacher at a daycare and I LOVE my kids here.
The daycare itself I HATE. The management i used to like now I HATE.
Prepare yourself because this post will be long.
Recently I decided to enroll my own 2 boys here because I don't have a sitter anymore for them. No big deal. Well right now instead of my hours being 8:30am to 5:30pm they are 1pm to 6pm. Wasnt a big deal until my kids were enrolled here. My boss wants me to take the boys in before 10am no later or they cant attend because nap time. I get that. However I can't afford to drive to my work drop them off then go home and go back to work at 1... so I ask if I can do a morning shift instead. She told me to talk to the girl who is in MY classroom in the mornings to switch with me. Here is the problems with that.
1. It's my classroom. Shes the one who doesnt have enough kids to open her room. Not me..

2. A few days before that I did drop my kids off then go home until 1. My oldest son is in my class. I got there in the middle of nap time and my son was awake. No big deal. Well I went to sit next to him and pat him to sleep he tells me his teacher pinched him. Shocked I asked if he meant she tried to grab his shirt as he ran by or something trying to get any other story than he was pinched. He stuck with his story. I asked him where and he got up and pointed to his back in the middle. So I check and there is a pinch mark. I was PISSED. I tell the assistant director since the main isnt there. She had me make a "ouch report" and told my main director (boss) and at this point I told my husband what happened and hes already on his way to pick up our kids. Doesnt want them there anymore. Later on my boss comes in and asks where my son is cause she wanted to talk to him. Fast forward to the end of the day she comes back in and tells me she didnt see anything on the videos and talked to the teacher that did it and said it's a misunderstanding. The teacher told her my son kicked another kid and that kid grabbed my sons shirt in the back. She gave my number to that teacher and that teacher was gonna text/call me to talk about it. She called while I was still at work and i didnt answer so she sent a text. Told me she doesnt know why my son would say that and blah blah. I asked her why she didnt tell me what happened when I showed up to take over the class and why she didnt make a incident report or check to see the boys had marks on them after the "fight" and she replied with "I been there for 4 years" and "I've never had a accusation made about me" i dont care. My son isnt lying. I asked him if he kicked his friend and he said yes. So i said "is that why he grabbed your shirt?" And my son gave me a confused look and said "no he kicked my shoe back" at that point I asked what him and his friend were doing and he laughed and said they were kicking each others shoes off. They were PLAYING. My son is almost 4. He also has great speech and he understands alot. My mother in law is a speech therapist so hes never had problem with talking or anything. He's not misunderstanding anything and I didnt misunderstand anything either. I asked my boss if I could see the video and she says no. I asked if she seen the boys "fighting" and she says that she saw something in the distance. She also didnt see the teacher hurt my son. My sons nap bed was behind a shelf hidden from the camera where my son said it happened because he wouldnt go to sleep because he was crying for me.
So you see WHY THE FUCK would I want to speak to that lady and ask to switch shifts? You think she would even want to? No.
I have already thought of filing a police report but I think she has gotten rid of the video evidence. She refused to show us and told us it self deletes after a few days. This wasnt taken seriously at all. I basically took it as a loss.
A huge reason why I wanted to switch to mornings was so I can get there before the 10am "cut off" time and so my boys are there when I'm not cause I dont trust them.
I tried to fight for a morning shift and my boss's excuse was the lady who pinched my son is titled an assistant director for the morning because the real assistant director isnt a morning person and would quit on her if she had her come in mornings...
You would think because I'm PAYING for my kids to be here she would let me have a morning shift Considering she wants them there before a certain time...
I'm currently looking for a new job and a place my boys can attend also.
This place has cockroaches everywhere.
This place puts mixed ages together. Ex. 2year olds are in my class with 4 and 5 year olds
This place will put more kids in a class than legally they can. I am 1:15 but if I have mixed ages you go with the ratio of the youngest kid. So if I have a 2 year old I can only have 8 kids to myself and of course I dont. I have well over that.
This place doesn't care if the teachers use the app to log kids meals, potty breaks, nap times, sign in and outs.
This places doesnt care if the teachers even do any of that on the PAPER sheets that have to be turned in for documentation.
This place has the teachers choosing their own hours and when they will be coming to work and when they wont be.
It's ridiculous. My whole first 2 weeks they kept asking if I was gonna stay or leave and I was confused at first but I know why now.
The teachers here tell kids "shut your mouth" (to the school age kids but NOT okay still)
The teachers her pat the babies (1 year olds) back so hard I can hear it in my classroom. Its loud thuds.
I dont know how this place is still here.
Dont get me wrong there are some really great teachers here and they deserve so much more than they are given here.
I had to vent because idk what to do.
Who do I call to come do a random check up here so this place cant prepare for the visit.
Ohhhh not mention we arent allowd to park in the parking lot anymore cause parents complained about it cause it's small and they had nowhere to park yet they park in front if the door anyways.. so we have to park on a random street and the people who live there are now putting their trash cans out so we cant park there anymore..so we dont even have a place to park for work anymore..
