Need some breastfeeding help!! I was advised not to start pumping for a few weeks but I’m leaking so much milk that I have to wear a towel over my boobs to keep from making a mess. Breast pads aren’t enough and I still soak through towels. Before and after she feeds, I shoot milk everywhere. She’ll feed on both sides for 10-15 and is very satisfied after so I’m assuming she’s getting all that she needs. So, what do I do about all the extra milk? I hate wasting it.

Use a haakaa or something similar to collect the leaking milk!

That’s perfect and exactly what I’m looking for. Only, idk if I can wear it while I’m using a boppy. 😩 but this is helpful. I’ve been trying to use storage bags and it was a fail 😂

@mommaofjais, they come in different sizes! Check Amazon, they have so many brands. Lol i can imagine the struggle of trying to just use the storage bags 😂

The lactation consultant I’ve talked to told me if I pumped too early, I could cause an oversupply. But I’m new too all this bc I had the opposite problem with my son. I never produced enough and I pumped and BF 24/7. So, I just don’t know what the right move is. I just hate seeing good milk to go to waste.

@mommaofjais, haha well idk I couldn’t get a pump for three days after I got home then I did that and pumped them just went straight bf ....I’m pretty sure she’s full of crap cuz some baby’s nurse right away everyone’s body’s different I learned that

You’re lactation consultant doesn’t want you to to get an over supply. Your milk is regulating now if you pump you’ll tell you body to make even more milk. There are milk saver pads that collects the milk that leaks out. Be careful of pumping now you don’t want to get mastitis.

I was the same way with my daughter. Definitely don’t pump because it signals your body to keep filling it back up and it will never regulate. It’s normal to overproduce at first. I’d wake up in middle of the night completely soaked in a puddle of milk! I had to sleep on a towel and wrap a towel over my boobs. Eventually it regulated but it took months. You can hand express between feedings to relieve some pressure and if you absolutely have to pump then only pump 1 oz. Don’t empty out. With my son I got these milkie saver things you wear on the opposite side while nursing and it catches the leaking milk. I saved several ounces in the freezer without pumping. Look on Amazon. Don’t worry it gets better!

Thanks!
That’s what I’ve been doing. Sleeping with two towels lol I had no idea I could leak this much. I never did with my son.
