So at my wits end with a child and no sleep. Naps, no naps, nothing works. Currently he doesn't nap. Then he's up for a good 10 plus hours, tonight he slept for four hours then awake again. And it's not just a bad dream then back to bed etc. Like he's ready to wake up. If wakes up at 12 he won't sleep again until at least 4am. Doesn't matter if he's in bed, if the lights are off, if I lay with him. He's got energy and ready to seize the day. I don't know what to do anymore. I don't really see how a doctor could help. He has routine, he has quiet time to transition after high energy activity, before bed. He eats good meals, diaper is fine.
Maybe because he knows you'll get in bed or stay up because you do as well. You'll have just ss many sleepless nights if you spend a week or 2 redirecting to bed without saying a word or eye contact.
@lii94 There is no redirecting though if I don't get him up he'll cry in bed for four hours straight every night and bang his head on the bed boards and hurt himself because he rocks so much to soothe himself. And then he also wakes my parents up cause you can hear him cry anywhere in the house. So what other choice do I have?
He's like awake, awake. Like not tired. He will be awake for at least four hours straight, he literally cannot fall asleep in his crib again. His body thinks it's the morning, he asks to go see grandparents and asks for breakfast after four hours of sleep. He doesn't nap during the day. So by eight pm he falls asleep no problem. Just can't sleep through the night for whatever reason.
I have also tried a mid day nap. That schedule didn't work either. Then he's just awake until like midnight. Honestly nothing is helping. :/
