I really don't know what to do anymore! My almost 9 month old will not sleep. He's struggled with sleep since day 1 and it's so frustrating. We've tried bath, lavender lotion, bottle right before bed, cereal for dinner, quiet play time before bed, baby massage, we have our routine set, soft music, white noise, comforting him without picking him up. I've even tried rocking him. I have to rock him for at least a half and hour to even have a shot of him going down. If not he wakes right back up the second he touches the matress. The only way he takes naps is if he's being held. He's always been like this and we've been trying and trying this whole time to help him sleep without being held or rocked. He just won't do it. He also wakes up in the middle of the night and refuses to go back down. At that point. So exhausted that he ends up in our bed. I really don't know what to do anymore. I feel like a terrible mother. My daughter was such a great sleeper, so this is all new to me. 😭

My daughter was like this. Your son is just on the cusps of being old enough to use the Ferber method. Maybe try googling it. Keep in mind if you start a new routine it will get worse before it gets better. It took my daughter almost a month to get into a good routine. She had to take the same routine night and day too. We also limited her naps to about two hours total a day. Also I hate to discourage you but not every child sleeps through the night. My daughter regularly woke up twice a night until she was about 3.5 from then on she woke up once a night...she's now 5.5.

I'm at the point of trying anything. He won't let me husband rock him...it has to be me. I'm so exhausted.

trust me I've been there. Eventually I became immune to the lack of sleep but I really hope this helps. I've recommended it to a few family members now that have had success with it

we used "cry it out" when my oldest was 9m. He was up once a night...it literally took one night and he never routinely woke up again. Sometimes tough love is the best way

Could you get him to fall asleep on you and then gently slide him down onto your bed?
