Has anyone ever worked at Jack n the box? I came through and ordered breakfast jacks and they said they weren’t selling breakfast because they’re cleaning the grill. Which got me wondering...how do they cook the burgers if not on a grill? Or is there a separate grill for breakfast and lunch items? Pure curiosity lol.

The grill gets cleaned at different times during the day. There are liners on the grill that need to be cleaned. Because hello, health code. Meat, EVEN HAM gets thrown on the grill. Wanna know what gets nuked ? Your cheesy bacon topping for the potatoes and veggies for the bowls. Rice even comes prepackaged to throw in the microwave instead of rice cooker. People may think that sucks but what sucks more is old , hard rice. Salads also are made by hand. They aren’t sent to the store that way.
Perhaps , people should know what they’re talking about before answering.

There are technically 3 parts to the grill unless the grill is more of an older one that doesnt have the clamshell. I worked with the ones that have clam shell and there are 2 sections where you cook the meat and 1 for eggs.
So depending on your JIB, be happy you know their cleaning the grill. And people should keep in mind that they have to take temps of meat 3 times a day to ensure the grill is keeping temp and cooking the meat. If the clam shell is too dirty, it doesn’t cook the meat thoroughly and god forbid that happens. Sorry your experience wasn’t 100% I’m glad I don’t have to deal with JIB customers anymore.

I wasn’t upset lol I was just genuinely curious. I’ve never worked in a fast food place with a grill so I wasn’t aware that they had 3 separate ones and so on. Learn something new everyday!

you may not have been upset but it’s upsetting when you see people making assumptions about things - especially food lol it’s fast food but they are very food safety ready. They even put their shift leads and managers thru special food safely training . The papers I used to do temps on are legal documents. It’s mandatory for a lot of things they do when it comes to food safety .
