My child brought home 2 turtles last night y'all! I went to the pet store today and 200 damn dollars later, they have a home! I have NO clue what I'm doin and I KNOW these are gonna end up bein Mama's turtles! Haha! ANYONE have any knowledge about red eared sliders? Or see anything right of the bat, from these couple of pics that I'm doin wrong? Kai said he was gonna "keep them FOREVER and EVER. He's gonna take them to his new house, even when a wife gets him"! Lmao!!
FYI; He's told me their names are Michael and Jessica and they are in love! SO cute!

Not tortoise. I have had turtles, years ago.
Red eared sliders. They grow Farley large so a wide tank is best. Have a good filtration for less water changes (cleaning). A basking (dry) are to bask under a heat lamp (special uv bulb). Always when handling reptiles, wash hands.

These are red eared sliders! They're SO dang tiny right now. I'll try and get a pic of em tomorrow. I got them the UV lamp, a basking rock, a floating rock, 10 gallon tank, and filter.

I have one. I had two but Milo killed his brother Franklin. We were told it’s best to have one per tank...a lil too late lol. Make sure u get a good heat lamp and basking rock or floating log to bask on.

Turtles are fun! Solders get high so be prepared for a large tank! They need lots of swimming room, and as iceberg said a dry area with heat lamp to bask. I was always told turtles are stinky, unless you have enough filtration. I always went with 2 or 3 times the water volume when shopping for filters.
I assume they are wild, are they eating for you?

Am I supposed to leave the light on for them 24/7?? Oh NO! I turned it off this mornin! The guy at Petsmart said 12 on and 12 off. I'm beginning to think the Petsmart folks may not have all the best info!

@leonardsquared I used to run mine Ina timer similar to what was going on outside, 12 and 12 is fine.the basking spot needs to get warm like 80-90* I think under the light so they can warm up and dry off

Thank you guys SO much for helpin me!! I feel bad for the little things bein yanked from their home and stuck in a box so I wanna make sure they still have a good long happy turtle life.
