I’m trying to get my 2 1/2 yr old of the boob. She has gone 3 days completely without it, even at night which has been the reason why I’ve failed before. But she still asks for it and i just tell her no because she’s a big girl now and i distract her with something else. When will she finally stop asking for it?

I was breastfed until I was 2 and I remember being pissed about being cut off the boob when my sister came along... I'm not sure how long it was when I finally stopped asking to nurse, but just for the record I didn't hold a grudge for too long against my mother.

It took my daughter about two weeks to stop asking for it. I stopped at around 16/17 months.

I just got my 2 year old off the boob a week and a half ago n he says my boob is poop !! I rubbed some aloe Vera on it before I gave it to him he asked one more time n after that he quit asking for it ! I thought it was going to be hard since he nursed at night every night n nope it was easier than I thought .

Offer her cuddles, hugs, and kisses when she wants to nurse. Find another "attachment" method to help her know you are still there for her. This has helped me. I've let her nurse about 3 times since we force weaned in January and that has helped her still get her comfort from mama.

My almost 4year olds occasionally ask. 🤣 she will get adjusted, just takes time! Distract and redirect is best. Maybe milk in a big girl cup.

That's AWESOME that you were able to breastfeed that long 💖 I hope o am too with this babe. Or at least until 1 😭

It can take a few weeks but expect her to ask again once your baby is born. My daughter stopped nursing at 2.5 but then I got pregnant with my son and she asked though my whole pregnancy and several times after he was born. I even let her latch a couple times after he was born (she was 3.5) but she lost her latch and didn’t know how to extract milk. She’s 5.5 now and still asks from time to time. My son is still nursing.
