1982. I remember going to the grocery store for my mom on my banana seat bike. How I managed to carry home groceries and milk I will never know but tying paper bags to the seat and handles and then riding home standing up. How did I survive!?
I figured you'd say that. I was based in NYC my first 6 years with my airline and saw so many kids using the public transportation alone. I don't remember ever seeing a school bus.
I had that same bike! We lived in a court and every house had kids. We all met up
in the court and did our thing. I remember when the bus cost 35 cents, the subway was only $1.10 and it was safe to watch your kids walk to a school without fences. Such a different world now...

school buses were something I saw on tv lol. Never when we were going to school. We used Subways and buses or walked.
