My daughter has a really bad rash from pooping literally after each feeding, what can I use to heal it? I've already used desitin, corn starch & even tried cleaning her with just soap & water. Nothings helping & I cant give her an oatmeal bath yet because of her umbilical cord stump.

We had to switch to using baby washcloths & water instead of wipes. We also used Vitamin A&D ointment (gold tube) after each diaper change.

Yes I've been doing that, I put some breast milk on it & it seems to be looking better

Awe poor thing usually paste makes it worse since your having to wipe it off every time she is pooping making the rash even worse. I would do cornstarch. Breastfed babies poop so much at first I definitely did the cornstarch

Have you tried a different brand of wipes or diapers? She could be sensitive to whatever kind you're using.

I think it's the wipes! I've been using a washcloth to clean her up & some breast milk afterwards & it seems to have made it better!

@raisingbabes, that was the problem for my son when he was little too. The washcloths are pretty easy to use when they are little. We just used a wet bag to keep them in after use, and then would wash them every couple of days.

Sawyer would get really bad rashes and no matter what creams I would use the only thing that really helped was just rinsing his bottom with warm water and letting him air out. He has super sensitive skin.

You will need to switch diapers and/or wipes. Many brands will give newborns a rash. My daughter couldn’t use Huggies at all. Even products labeled sensitive skin didn’t work for her. I could only use Babyganics diapers and Seventh generation wipes. Also you may want to stop using wipes altogether and only use plain water to wash her after poop. I did that with both my kids.

Corn starch bath let air dry. Then apply vaseline or a&d works amazing.

Could it possibly be an allergy? My daughter had a terrible rash the first couple weeks of her life. Nothing helped, so I took her to the doctor. (TMI but she also eventually ended up having some bloody mucus in her poop). The doctor told me it might be a dairy allergy, so I eliminated dairy from my diet since I was nursing. The rash cleared up in a couple of days or so and didn’t come back! I used cornstarch baby powder after each diaper change to keep her dry and butt paste or Vaseline as a barrier for her skin along with wet washcloths instead of wipes until it healed. Her butt was so raw that it literally looked like her skin was coming off.

Coconut oil or A&D the ointment. Let her air dry too. It will take some time.

we use it for everything. Chapped lips, bites, rashes...we have a tube everywhere 😅
