Back to normal quarantene routine after Easter Holiday. I know everyones saying don't worry about school work but that's easier said than done when Morgan is refusing to do anything. He's already behind & has extra support at school. I have no idea what I'm doing or how to approach any of the subjects with him. Can't help but worry how this is going to affect his learning long term. Seeing people post their children's work & I'm over here like we painted rocks today. Then crying in the bathroom at how I'm failing miserably at this 😏

It wont effect him long term... its like riding a bike as a child... if you didnt do it for a while your shakey but 5 mins and your back up to pace.... children are so so resilient to all sorts of things and his learning and behaviour to learning will bounce right back.
Im sure ther will be alot in the same situation worrying just like you but try not to beat yourself up... your doing the best you can.
I painted rocks with charlie the other day and it was impossible and i got so stressed.. so ther not that easy! Ha.
But seriously....
Your not failing... do what your doing....try and make it fun look online at ways you can adaprt learning into things.. such as making flowers by counting petals ect... vague i know but just that sort of thing.
Your doing amazing.... and tommrow is always a new day! X

Hey, speaking from a teacher's perspective there are going to be so many children in the same position as Morgan, you're not on your own. When schools do return to normal, us teachers will be doing everything we can to make sure children have caught up. It's natural to be worried though.
In the meantime have you tried teaching through play/ games maybe?
I'm a Year 4 teacher and from what I can see only 2-3 of my learners from a class of 29 are actually accessing and completing work that I set them online.

Thank you for some reasurance. Definately having a wobbly day today. I've tried all kinds of games to incorporate some of the activities. Even those he often refuses. We do writing together alot because he likes to write comic books. The teachers are setting times tables activities & he got very upset saying he hasn't learnt those so I've avoided them since.
He got very emotional today & said he misses school & his friends & that he's not learning anything at home with me. And I'm thinking well you won't sit with me to do anything 🤷♀️lol. I work with pre-schoolers so I can do simple games & activities incorporating some areas of learning. But I don't know how to make some of the set work more fun e.g. they get a book each week which then all the activities fit around. Was a weather one before easter. He said it was boring so didn't want to do any of the activities 🤷♀️ He got so upset today it just broke me that I can't help him more.

that's really good he enjoys writing and creating his own comics, keep encouraging that. See if you can encourage him to add some of his class topic book into his comic stories to help spark some interest. E.g for weather, how a thunderstorm/ tornado etc gave a particular character super powers. Don't worry about sticking rigidly to the lessons.
Is there a way he can maybe video call a friend from school to do some 'buddy/ partner work' on some of the activities?
BBC have a great timestable song with actions my children love, and one on YouTube called 'timetable mash up'.
