It probably is an average of what can be considered basic money for survival.
The cost of living is so different depending on where you live. For people in like San Francisco or New York City 2k a month wouldn't even cover rent.

I just read my comment and it kinda sounds rude. NOT my intention, at ALL!! I was genuinely askin bout the mortgage deal. I just don't see how that could happen.... that would cause a ripple effect of an economic downturn that would end up being much more far reaching than the lower percentage of folks tha can't pay their mortgage right now. Some of us are lucky enough to still be employed and paying our bills. I really think it'd lessen the blow the most by just offering to those certain people in those situations and not just a blanket money toss to hush everyone up. Everyone is so busy talking about their new found wealth, giggling and livin their best quarantine life that they've quit paying attention to what's still happening. Money is the distraction, in my opinion. Stay woke Mama's, stay woke.

@leonardsquared, You didn't come across as rude! I really don't know what would happen to people without payments. Those were just the two options I read, but it didn't say anything about the one's with mortgages paid off. Right now there's people going out spending the money on useless shit when they should be saving it.

consider the fact that some people just lost their health insurance, meaning they may now need to pay out of pocket for health care and prescriptions. my boyfriend got laid off and lost his health insurance, he’s type one diabetic. working on enrolling in another plan but even when he does he’ll have a higher deductible, monthly costs to pay and will have to spend a few thousand on his monthly supplies 😣

The national debt is so high, it’ll never really be paid off. Some of our tax dollars are being returned in this stimulus money but most of it is just taking debt.

I agree, it’s ridiculous. People should have saved 6 months expenses and been using their emergency funds. If people were wise with their money none of this would be necessary. The debt is just going up and people are going to become more dependent on the government. Why work if you’ll just be collecting a check for more than you make? Most people that need these checks make less than what they’re giving them.
