So my daughter gets constipated a lot. 3 times since she was 5 months old? She’s almost 8 months old. I haven’t done ANYTHING different other than start feeding her food when she turned 6 months old but her getting constipated started before that. I just don’t understand why it’s happening so often. Do I need to cut stuff out of her diet? What do I need to be doing? I can’t exactly take her to the doctor right now either 😭 I’m not worried I just feel bad for her. Someone tell me what to do lol we also do baby led weaning. She hates baby food but wants to eat so..baby led weaning is what we do

Have you tried giving her more water? I find it helped my daughter to give her more water when we first started solids.

@garay88, actually no! She’s on gentlease though. She didn’t do well with the hello enfamil so I put her on gentlease, my son used that and he did great on it and it seemed like she was doing good on it too. Maybe reguline would be better? But wic won’t give me reguline 😞

You’ll have to cut back on her solids and give her a ton of fruit and water. My daughter had the same problem. I couldn’t even give her meat or dairy until 14 months because she was always constipated. Her doctor told me to put some Miralax in her bottles so I was doing that for a couple months just to make her poop. Otherwise she needed suppositories to get her going.

This has been going on way before her eating solids days. I really don’t think it’s her food and she hardly eats any solids it ends up on the floor.

Does she have a normal rectum? Is it fully shaped and in the proper place with a full muscle sphincter? If not that can play a part. The reason I ask is I know a someone who was born with anterior anus. The sphincter is way forward and tiny. As a baby the mom had to after being trained by a doctor dilate the baby's anus until it was normal size. Thankfully for her she had a minor case of it and has outgrown the complications. Constipation being her biggest one. She still occasionally has an issue but with proper hydration it's much better. It took until she was over a year old and really into drinking water for it to get better. Speak to your ped and ask about this. The angle of the colon vs the rectum can be abnormal. OR it could be absolutely none of the above. Try mixing the formula with more water for at least one bottle a day and give her prunes(baby food) to see if that helps. Best of wishes!!!

Try giving her prune baby food .. that always helped my daughter poop really good .. also it’s okay to give her miralax in her bottle or an enema.. also jst try giving her more water

I gave her pear juice mixed with water and prunes before her nap so hopefully after her nap she poops okay. I don’t even care if she poops through everything lol she had a lot of prunes 😬
