What does independent play look like for your 2 year olds? He has tonnes of toys, wooden, plastic, creative, building, role play, animals, sport... but he just wants to play with his cars and wants me to join in, difficult as im working from home, but he will just bash them and make them have the same "hello, bye" conversations for aaaages. I'm trying to think of other toys he can actually be more involved in and exert some energy into

Pulling everything out, make a huge mess and then leave it 🤷🏼♀️ when he does play it’s mostly Cars too x

Charlie plays with two little dinosaur toys and pretends they are eating one another, they are his favourite and also he plays with his cars and trains just moves them around on the road rug , and then he pretends he’s the hulk so runs around screaming hulk smash 😁those are his interests so I let him do his thing lol xx

My sons really in to dinosaurs just now. The games are pretty much always the same, they meet, say Hi I’m T.Rex or whoever, T.Rex chases them and then they become friends after one bumps it’s head. Try to just expand the conversation they’re having by asking questions like “is the red car feeling happy?” “are the blue car and green car friends?” It’s dull for us but exciting for them.

That's a good idea, he does treat them like people like if I stop playing he gets upset because he says the car wanted a kiss goodbye .. from the other car! So I'll try and bring more conversation in c
