Is it worth it to bring my daughter for her flu buster shot to the pediatricians office sometime this week? She got the first shot like about 5 weeks ago but I haven’t been able to bring her back since she had a cold after that. Now with how bad everything is I don’t want to take her out. When I called the pediatrician’s office earlier in the day, they told me that I should bring her in to get that second shot. What do you think? Is it important or skip it? Do you think by her getting that shot it will help a little if god forbid we get the corona virus? She’s gonna turn 10 months old this week.

The flu shot does not protect against the corona virus, and I wouldn’t risk it if your staying at home is in place where your at. Plus flu season is soon coming to a end

It should be completely fine. Many pediatrician’s office are separating wellness checkups with sick kids. Our girl’s office has wellness checkup in the morning &’ sick kids in the afternoon.

I live in washington and have had to bring my girls in like 3 times in March for ear infections and a lingering cough from like beginning of feb. They are coming back in about 2 weeks for a checkup to see if their meds are helping 😕🙁

Thanks ladies! I really appreciate all of your feedback wether you agree with it getting it done or not. You all have very good valid points! 😃
I think maybe I shouldn’t risk it. I feel like maybe if it was a shot for measles or something and she needed it mandatory then I think I would risk it more. I really wanted her to get it done before but she kept getting a minor cold recently with a runny nose like twice within a month that lasted a week each time so I just put it off. Now I’m scared with how bad this virus is spreading, I feel like it’s too scary to bring her outside.

I, personally, would cancel it. The coronavirus is running rampant, and we’re not even to peak yet. Hospitals, doctors offices, high traffic places, etc are a no go for my family. Flu season is damn near over, so I wouldn’t risk it. However the dangerous the flu might be, catching this foreign virus might put her at greater odds for a serious reaction. But this is just my opinion! If you feel that she absolutely needs this second dosage based on her doctors recommendation, then do it. Just be extra precautious with everything. Make sure they’re sanitizing before they enter, when they leave, ask that they wear face masks to prevent breathing on her, make sure they’re using clean sterile unused things, etc. If it’s just a booster, it will be in and out in 15 mins. So whatever you decide, it will be okay!

I didn’t know that. Thanks for the info@ekko. The thing that worries me is if I was to bring her to the pediatrician’s office, if they don’t have a mask and breathe on her if they have to give her the shot.

Give your pediatrician a call. My baby has her 6month appt on Monday and I asked if I should cancel due to COVID but they said I should keep her up to date on vaccinations and told me they only book appointments for babies in the mornings so that’s when we are scheduled. Not going to lie, I’m kind of wanting to cancel but I’m more worried about this dragging on for a long time and her being way behind w vaccines

They were recommending that people get it because getting the flu or having complications from the flu can make people more susceptible to getting the coronavirus.

Thank you@ss3mom. The way the secretary at the pediatrician’s office said you have to bring her in for it, made me think it was really necessary but I’m glad that I decided to ask on here because I definitely wouldn’t want to risk bringing her out. I like that she’s home safe. 😃

I wouldn’t because like u said flu season is almost over anyway and if you’re staying in then there’s really no reason for it at this time

Oh ok I really appreciate your feedback@ mommakaylax3.
😃
I don’t know if they are doing that just to make some money or if it they thought it was necessary in their opinion. You are right though that since flu season is almost over maybe it wouldn’t make sense to get it done and since it won’t do anything to help against this virus now. Thank god I don’t really have to bring her back till the beginning of June.
