Anyone have experience with their kids having night terrors?
I think Maddox had one last night but I’m not sure. He woke up around 11 just screaming and was absolutely inconsolable. He cried for like 20 mins and all I could do was hold him. His eyes were closed but he seemed awake. Towards the end his eyes were open. He the. Started to say that his eyes hurt and was still screaming. The only way we could calm him down was to put the tv on for a bit.
Anyone have a similar experience? It broke my heart last night.

My oldest son who is 12 now and my 3rd son who is 3 got them horribly! The only thing I was able to do for my oldest was hold him and tell him it was okay until he woke up on his own.
And my 3 year old was much harder
he would actually run away from me on his bed and I would just have to wait there until he woke up on his own and would crawl into my lap!
Its definitely heart breaking when you have no control and cant really help them.

my daughter gets them, she has since she was pretty little and shes almost 4 now.
Her last one she woke up screaming because "bees were biting her".
It was hard to calm her down and get her to realize there weren't any bees in her room :(
I dont know exactly what to do either but we are very easy going with her at bedtime. So after an episode like that we let her lay with us until she can get back to sleep.
I started talking to her about how dreams work and she saw a cartoon where the character had a nightmare. So I described her through it, in the morning I always ask her about her sleep or her dreams.
I'm hoping one day we can at least get to a clear level of communication about what she dreams about so I can at least try and help as she gets older.
