So pedi recommended switching baby boy to enfamil AR. He’s been on it a couple days so far and his gulping has improved significantly. But.... we’re using dr browns bottles with level 1 nipples and it’s taking him so long to eat a 3oz bottle and he keeps falling asleep at every feeding and not wanting to finish his bottle. Which was never a prob before. Should I use level 2 nipples?
@hollieletcher01, yes definitely! My dr told me I could cut her nipples with sterile scissors but I don’t trust myself to do that lol. Also like oggirl said there is y cut nipples and if you look dr brown has them.
@mommakaylax3, oh my gosh girl I went through the cut nipple phase with my other son and it was a nightmare. I wish I would have realized they had y cut ones with him.
@hollieletcher01, right! Thank god for new technology 😂😅
Yes definitely go to a size 2 since the formula is thicker with A.R. My dr always said if it takes them more than 10 mins to eat then they need to go up a nipple size
Oh gosh yeah it was taking him 10 mins just to eat one ounce if not longer because he kept falling asleep.
I ordered some. They will be here Friday. I wish I could go to my local Walmart and just grab some but someone with CORONAVIRUS decided they needed some groceries today and went it Walmart!!! 🤦🏼♀️
My daughter takes a long time to eat her 4 oz bottle and she is 2 months old. Level 1 nipple. She does fall asleep as well. It’s normal though. You could try a 2 but it might be too fast of a flow at 2 weeks.
@dontblockmesis-imjustspeakingfacts, my baby boy is a sleepy one also. I’m actually feeding him a bottle now and stretched the hole out just a little and he seems to be getting it out easier. We started on avent bottles but he literally sound like he’s drowning with those 😕 even with the thicker formula.
@hollieletcher01, which ones are y’all using? I have the ones with the vents for colic and gas.
@dontblockmesis-imjustspeakingfacts, we have the avent natural bottles.
Yes definitely go up, maybe take his clothes off so he’s not all warm and cozy also he might just be a sleepy baby to. But try a size 2. My daughter was on a size 2 on the advent and when we started adding rice to her feeds per dr order we had to go to a size 3 nipple on avent
