[LINK IN BIO] I wasn’t going to watch the Trials of Gabriel Fernandez on @netflix - what for? Another death that could’ve been prevented, see how flawed the social work system is and watch how he slowly died? No thanks.

But I ended up watching. I worked in the foster care system because working with kids who need help has always been something I wanted to work in. I had no experience, but eventually learned the ropes. I had children who didn’t know why they were in the system, still loved their parents no matter what they did, foster parents who were great and some who were awful, parents who tried and others who kept neglecting their children.

Would I recommend watching this? Of course, no one wants to say this was a good watch. Tears might start flowing 5 minutes into it, but it’s important to watch so more people can know what to look out for. What to do? And to know the signs? Also feel the government needs to play a bigger role - work with families before removing children. Hire more workers,’pay them better, lessen case loads etc.
