So I dont have very many friends and nobody to talk to but I need to say something..... so me and my fiance live with my mother in law and have for the past year.... when it's good it's great and when it's bad it's bad. I spend most days wondering what she would think about my parenting instead of just doing what I think is best. Needless to say we are looking for places.... we are now keeping it from her that we are looking back in my home town 45 min away because she might get upset. I just dont know what to say. When does she become less of a priority and I be come more.....

I think that if it would upset her, it’s probably best to keep it from her, in case she gets super upset and tries to throw you out.

I think she needs to get used to the fact before it happens or she's going to be angry we didn't tell her sooner.

maybe wait until you’ve narrowed it down to a couple of places, this way it’s not “oh, but the way, we’re moving out in 2 weeks”, but instead it’s more “so we found a few places that may be a good fit for us to live, and you’d be able to get your space back”. Maybe ask her to take a look at the final choices to “help” you make a final decision
