Hey girls its been a while since i posted anything but i need some advise .. so every time we go to the store my son wants something yeah i know its not god to always buy them something but everytime but abyways today we went to the store and my nieces where picking toys and my son got a $1 toy wich later he wanted to switch for something else .. well my husbands gets mad and always tell him no and makes a big deal witch he ends up crying and then my husband continues to say how spoild he is and that its my fault and my moms bc we take care of him and it really gets me mad -.- bc i mean he is a small kid hes only 3 ah what to do :(

Tell your son sometimes you get toys when we go shopping and sometimes you don’t. I wouldn’t keep that up. But the husband shouldn’t make it such a huge deal and cause a scene or make your son cry. Try to be on the same page so your son isn’t confused or upset.

Exactly this. You're not a bad mom or doing it "wrong". It's all a matter of communication. My husband is the same way which sucks because it ends up making the child confused and upset and is then "my fault". The important part is to communicate it to your kid so he understands. Sometimes it helps to set boundaries and expectations before going into the store.

I have an 8 and 3 year old and let me tell you, when it comes to grandma and grandpa, that is exactly how it was. Toy at every store. But with my husband and I, no. Our 8 year old, once upon a time, was the same way with us but we stopped it quickly with advice from my sister in law who was struggling with her than 7 & 9 year old who were so use to getting something at all times. Our 8 year old knows not to ask unless she’s paying with her allowance. If they are allowed something, I let them know in advance before we go out. Other than that, nope. My 3 year old can pick something and play with it in the store but when we get to the register, I sneakily tell the worker we aren’t getting this and that’s that. He gets over it fairly quickly. And saves from all the screaming happening in the store.

Maybe he’s a bit spoiled but in this instance I wouldn’t want my son to be the only one not getting a toy. In the future just try your best to be firm and not get him things. I know it’s hard he’s still young and no one wants to be that mom in the store with a kid having a temper tantrum ! You’re doing your best.

I always used to do this too but when my kids started expecting it i stopped. I now tell them ahead of time in the car they can get a toy for such and such reason, like my youngest had no accidents all week.
