I am going to pay my sister to watch my son while I work. She’s 16 and home schooled. It would only be maybe 2 days a week. I am trying to decide on what’s a good price to pay her. Any suggestions?

yes, very true! I love when my oldest has friends over bc it keeps him entertained. I guess it depends on the age and their independence level

The only reason I want to pay her is because she’s saving up to buy her first car. I made a deal with her that a big percent of what I pay goes into a bank account until she’s ready to buy a car. If she has money on hand my other sister will need to “borrow it”. I just don’t know how much is a fair price 😞

in that case, I’d only do like $40 for the week. She’s not going to be doing a ton, so I wouldn’t pay a lot personally.

$10/hour. Normally I would pay much more, but bc its family helping you out I would first ask what she wanted to be paid and then insist on at least $10/hour.

If I paid 10 an hour there would be no point of working even me making 17 an hour I would be just working to pay her. I was thinking of maybe a set rate.

Agreed. I pay my daughter's babysitter $15/hr. $10/hr is reasonable but definitely ask her and get in the same page. Also think about the repercussions if something happens. My family babysits but doesn't provide childcare. There's a difference and to me in this situation she would be providing child care since you're working regularly.

Depends how long she has to watch the kids, &’ what you require for her to do. I wouldnt mind paying $50 a day! So much cheaper than nannies in my area that charge $25 an hour, &’ some per kid! 🤯

It would just be my son for 8 hours and my daughter for maybe 3. Sometimes not even my daughter. And it would just be just to make sure he doesn’t get hurt while playing and keep him fed and diaper changed so it’s not to hard. He’s a good baby. I think 45-50 would be good. Right like at 25$ and hour you better be making a lot more then then.
