Question: Does a woman always have a small amount of hcg levels in her system even when they are not pregnant? Just if it’s 6 and up you’re considered pregnant.
For example: my friend who is 5 months postpartum thought she was pregnant, her pregnancy test cane back negative, so her dr did blood work, they called her today told her she wasn’t pregnant but she logged onto her chart and it says she had “1mL” if hcg, and back in December when she got blood drawn again due to her getting positive test and having a cyst(which she had to have surgery for) it said then she had “.6mL” of hcg.
But her dr didn’t say anything back in December and this time told her she wasn’t pregnant and didn’t say anything about testing again or anything.

Yes 5 or less is normal to have at all times.

maybe a miscommunication? It’s definitely possible!

My office won’t confirm pregnancy until you’re at 25 since up to 5 is normal and some conditions like PCOS can make it higher. 1 is definitely negative.
