I am so whooped from the past two days! The IEP meeting went okay. I passed out an article posted on 2/7/20 by EdWeek that was passed to me by a school psych I know about 9 and 10 year olds being suicidal and us adults not having a clue to everyone at that table, umm yes I did!!! That set an interesting tone because the vibe said “woah, this woman went and did research, she’s not playing” but it got business handled. There were a lot of tears in that room, including me. I was the one who found out my brother was having those thoughts from another parent and had to bring it to my fathers attention. It triggered me being a suicide survivor already that I couldn’t help it.

While it wasn’t handled right by the teacher it was reported to, at least they’re working to restore faith and strengthening policies and procedures. The principal has made it a point to add her name to the notice saying she will attend my sons kindergarten transition IEP next month. They’re trying...
