How do you do it? How do you balance dealing with going out shopping or anywhere else for that matter? What about tantrums? Advice would be much appreciated!

When I go out I normal baby wear my one month old and keep my toddler in the shopping cart . Nornal shes good and sleeps the whole time as I’m wearing her . Getting out of the house is still a challenge

@sarasmilesatyou kids first toddler in play pen or crib while you run and get groceries.

my toddler doesn’t fit in a play pen and if he did, he’d climb out 😳😓

I was worried the first few times how to go about thing you would figure it out you got this

Right now I do grocery pick up or my husband joins us for shopping trips. Usually the baby is asleep when I unload groceries or I hold her and unload things. The older kiddos like to jump in and help unload / put things away so that helps me tons.
You kinda just find a rhythm with it. I dislike having to go places with all of them alone, but we do lots of hand holding.
Tantrums are always a battle. Especially the two youngest upset at the same time. Super fun. I just try to calm them down the best I can.

When I had only two I had the younger one in my arms or carrier and has other one hold my hands I put the baby in first after having the older one get in the car. I always went out when I knew they were just waking up from a nap because that when the happiest they would be and also have a list so I was in and out.

My son is good with handholding up to a certain extent, but when he sees something he really likes forget it. He’d let go, run off, or throw a tantrum and I don’t wanna chase him down with a newborn by my side. I’m so nervous of that happening 😓

my middle one is like that I have had to grab her by her clothes or hood of her sweater. I have 3 I go out with I have had to learn and adapt at different times but once you start going out the kids kind of learn a routine at least my kids kind of know now how we get in and out of car and when we get to the store where the grocery carts are and how they're going to get in it. It does take some time but that the only way i get out of the house sometimes.

I dont deal. We all throw tantrums together😂😭😭.
Nah seriously I had to put us on a schedule. Naps and bedtime. This helped out tremendously. At the end of the day we have to understand they are still learning how to behave.
Sara··
Can you tell me your schedule? Because anytime I attempt at a schedule something falls through or it’s not enough to be okay for my toddler 😓

You're just 3 weeks in, just relax, hun. It gets easier. Life will always be chaotic, but it will settle down. Eventually you will get into a routine. But it will take time

we wake up around 7:30 8am. We eat breakfast and play and she is ready for a nap around 10:30 11. While I put her the sleep this is my 4 year olds chill time(tablet or game). She naps between 45 min and 2 hours. I either nap while she naps or get things done around the house, or spend time with the older kids. After her nap we leave the house and do whatever it is I need to do. She eats dinner and is ready for bed around 7 7:30. It starts by doing the same thing everyday close to the same time as possible. If my baby girl doesnt have her nap she is acting like she is allergic to everything I tell her or try to get her to do. Now I'm due in May.....I hope I'm able to keep my toddlers schedule. I babywear a lot too and that will help with carry the Newborn around while you are with the toddler. And it was said you are still in the new mommy stage so do what you can and relax.🙂

When I go out I either take one of them with me or leave them both at home with their father just so I can get things done quicker. But there are times I have to take them both with me so I usually have my youngest in the cart & my oldest "helping" me push the cart (which makes her think shes doing something important so theres really no tantrums with her out in public). And I keep my son satisfied with his tablet. We also live in an apartment, so when I have to run out & grab everything, I put my son in his crib & tell my daughter to sit on the couch with her tablet. They both do fine. You'll eventually pick up on a routine that will work for you!

- I wear my little guy a lot, he loves it and it allows me to get more done at home or out and about.
- I kept my oldest’s schedule nearly the same. Bedtime got pushed back a little, but that’s bc he won’t go bed without me as part of the routine. But when my little guy was a newborn and it was just me and both boys, sometimes the schedule was off by 30 minutes or so due to nursing the baby.
- tantrums ... they happen. I try to include my oldest in everything with the baby to minimize jealousy tantrums. So he’s always welcome to snuggle with us while baby nurses, we let him “hold” baby whenever he asked, he loved throwing diapers away. But when he has a meltdown, I either ignore him or walk him to his room until he is calm.
- if I needed to run back and forth to my car, the baby would either be on me in his wrap or safely in his crib. Older guy either gets cartoons or is shut in his room.
- Grocery shopping requires a list and lots of snacks. My older one either sits up in the front of the cart or he can help push the cart or grab food if the store isn’t crowded. Or if daddy is with us, he rides in daddy’s shoulders. He’s really good at stores so it normally takes just the threat of being out in the cart or offering snacks to avoid a meltdown. Recently I’ve been doing Instacart more than I’d like to admit, but now that baby is older I’m trying to prioritize his nap times and make sure he’s napping at home and not in his car seat.
