How effective is a membrane sweep 🤔 I am 39 weeks pregnant and my Dr. did one today. I’m curious how many of you had this done and it help put you into labor without induction?
I’m not sure if it was that or the sex. But I got the membrane sweep on a Thursday started having strong contractions about 15 min after. Friday I did everything I could think of except sex and still nothing. Sat morning I had sex and then went about my day as normal did some cleaning. I was super uncomfortable the whole day and just stayed busy by 9 that night I was having contractions every 5 min got to the hospital around 12am and had a baby a few hours later.
I had it done at 37 wks with my first & had her at 38 wks, I feel like it did something but sex also played a part in rupturing my membranes(I was still induced). With my second, it did nothing at all & had him at 39 wks because of sex lol.
I had them done many times and they never put me into labor. I can't say that they didn't work completely though because I had to be induced early for my baby measuring bigger but my inductions always went smoothly. I did a lot of research on them and they have found that the women who didn't go into labor within 48 hours after having it done still went into labor earlier than women who did not have it done.
4 kids and one more on the way! God bless you, I am exhausted thinking about it haha thank you 😊 Indiction for me was awful, the pitocin sent me into full blown contractions within an hour or two! I had no gradual contractions. Fingers crossed I got into labor naturally this time 🤞🏼
