Why Does My 10-Month-Old Sit with a Hunchback?
I’m so confused on why my son sits with a hunchback. He’s 10 months old and walking, when he stands, he has no curvature. I’ve read it was because he wasn’t taught how to “sit properly”, but I’m confused on how to teach that. We did have a sit-me-up seat, but followed the rules strictly on not allowing him to be in it for more than 10mins. And if I’m being completely honest, we bought it, and about 6 weeks later he was sitting up totally on his own. So maybe it’s because he learned to sit up on his own at such an early age?
I’m going to bring it up to his pediatrician, and potentially looking to a chiropractor… But I just want some support, haha. Have any of your littles dealt with this?

Curious what others think, but I always thought it was normal. They are still learning to sit up etc so it will go away naturally when the muscles become stronger...? Maybe I'm wrong.

That’s what I’m wondering! I can’t remember either way with my first, but I googled “my baby sits with his back curved” and went down this massive rabbit hole of “hunchbacked babies”. 🙃

I remember going down that rabbit hole as well with my son! In the end, his posture was just fine. Actually, just a few days ago I was thinking about what a scam all that posture crap is on the internet lol because I think all kids start out with a bit of a curvature? But I might be wrong 🤷♀️

He looks like he is chillin to me! Update us cause now I'll be 🕵️♀️ the kids! I guess I need to pay attention, idk if I would have caught this. 🤦♀️

i must just have it wrong then.. i for sure thought kids always have good posture until they learn bad posture. (being a lot older)
my son sits up straight always and i never thought that was something you had to teach a kid.

From what I’ve researched, it’s less about just slouching, and more of weak muscles (example: “If your child sat before the average age, sometimes the muscles aren’t strong enough just yet.”)

I thought if they’re not sitting up straight it’s just the muscles aren’t strong enough yet I could be wrong.

That’s what it is! But from what I’ve read, it really only tends to happen to kids who sit too early. Like, they weren’t ready yet.
