Alright, I saw a post last night on here about tubal ligation(?). I’m in California in placer county, I’m 22 in April and I have 2 babies. Does ANY of that information prevent me from getting my tubes done?

I missed whatever that was. I’m learning it’s a combo of the discretion of the doctor and your insurance guidelines. They told me to wait til I was 40. I live in Sacramento county but was living in Alameda county when I was told that.

I think since you have already have had 2 kids they should do it. But every country is different I'm in San Joaquin county

When I was gonna have my other son I was 27 they asked me if I wanted to get them tied then and I said no cuz I did want one more child

Two of my friends in Southern Illinois reached out to me after they saw that I had a tubal ligation, and was like “how did you get approved?!”.
I was shocked to learn that one of them had to go in front of a board of people to be approved (3 kids / 3 c-sections). She had to have a doctors note stating that she wasn’t a candidate for vaginal delivery and a fourth c-section would cause complications.
My second friend told me that she had to go in front of a board of people, with her husband present(wtf!!!) and she was denied still because she was “only 29 and had only had two kids.”
From my understanding, it was because it was a religious hospital. But I don’t know!
I delivered my second via C-section at at St. Mary’s, at 30 years old and I had zero issues getting approval. At about 20 weeks pregnant, I told my doctor “I would like to get a tubal ligation while I’m open up on the table, because I know I’m done having kids.”
He said, “no problem!”. So my situation was much easier compared to my friends in Illinois.
It’s absolutely insane to me that you have to be “approved” for something like this in certain states. And even more insane to me that you’re husband has to say ‘ok’ as well. Like WHAT!? It’s your body. Not his. Not theirs.

Omfg. That’s ridiculous. This is what I’m afraid of. Like I don’t want to do this any time soon but i just wanted to know some stuff now rather than getting smacked in the face with it when I asked about it.

Wow you’re young! I think you need to be at least 25 or have 3 kids. So you might need to wait 3 more years.

@myausome.life, well is your husband open to having a vasectomy? That’s what my husband did and it wasn’t that bad. I’m 36, he’s turning 35 this year, and we’ve already decided on 2 kids so he was more than willing to get the procedure done. I already had 2 c-sections and he didn’t want me having any more surgery. It wasn’t that bad, the recovery was fairly easy and he only took 1 day off work.

talk to him about it. Seriously it’s not a big deal and it doesn’t affect their sex drive or anything like that. A lot of men get it, they just don’t talk about it.

I'm pretty sure it's an age and kids thing everywhere, for instance here, I was offered one when I became pregnant with my 3rd, when I asked why they was even a question they explained if you have 3 kids by 23+ it's an option.
