I usually have 28day cycles and ovulate around cd17

You’re very unlikely to pick up ovulation with just one opk. You’d have to determine your luteal phase before you could do that. Try again next cycle but use them from the day your period finishes. The longer you use them the more you’ll get to know the ins and outs of your cycle.
