So my friend needed someone to watch over her 5-year-old kid.
I have a newborn and I stay at home all day so she asked if I could watch him for 2 hours while she goes to work. So being the good friend that I am, I decided to watch him.
As I am doing dishes while my friends son is watching tv across the room, I hear a....COUGH. I start to worry because he has touch my baby. (Of course he washed his hands before he came to my house, but who knows if he coughed on his hands again and then touch my baby again)
I am just beyond worried and pissed because I don’t want my baby to get sick. (She’s only 2 months old)
I am just ranting because I don’t know how to deal with this. I mean, I don’t want to accuse my friend about this. But she says, “he’s not sick... he just has a cough”
To all the mommas out there, how often do you hear that line?...and do your kids/babies actually end up getting sick from their kids?!
My baby is not showing signs of fussiness or unusual crying, but she is starting to a have a temperature warmer than usual. I am monitoring my baby closely, but as a first time mom, I have never felt so pissed, worried and stressed out all at the same time, until now.
I just wouldn’t be watching ppls kids lol but yes what she said above my husband and son both had the flu and me and my other two didn’t get it and I was around them and cleaning up after them ..so I wouldn’t really worry much just disinfect and if she gets something lesson learned
I wouldn’t worry to much. All 3 of my older kids have been sick and my baby’s hasn’t gotten sick just keep him away from the baby. And make sure you disinfect everything when he leaves. I sprayed everything with Lysol disinfectant spray.
My 6yr old has asthma and when it's acting up she coughs a lot but if you think he's sick just keep him separated from your baby.
Allergies and changing weather can also cause coughs without being anything serious
Well my daughter when she was young always had a cough but she was never sick. She had "seasonal asthma" so Everytime her allergies were high it came with a really bad cough. Sometimes she needed breathing treatments.
However the flu and RSV are bad right now.
My son has a chronic cough from asthma but he isn’t “sick”. I’ve had this irritating cough that started recently due to the change in weather and allergies. I’m not “Sick”. Germs are everywhere. Baby’s and kids will get sick. If her son just had a cough and that was it, I wouldn’t be too concerned.
I was just going to say this, but now I don't have to type it out. Same with my son. Any little amount of dirt coming up from wind or rain, or like now here in TX- the mountain cedar, poor kid has had a cough for a week now because it flares up his allergic asthma. It can be something as little as going more than a day without vacuuming and that cough shows up.
If you are breastfeeding though- your milk will potentially help keep her from getting sick. Or if she does get sick, your milk will change to accommodate her needs.
I’ve had this cough for almost 2 months and I’m not sick it’s not a big deal I wouldn’t worry about it at all.
