HELP!! My son has a really bad case of diaper rash. He’s been given yeast cream (Nystatin) and it’s not doing anything. We’ve switched to fragrance free diapers, have done the whole air it out deal, tried cornstarch, baby aquaphor, desitin and NOTHING! Any other tips?
Try straight up zinc oxide spray. Zinc oxide is the active ingredient in diaper rash cream. Learned this trick from a friend who’s son was in the NICU, it’s what the nurses gave her. I’ll link you to some that’s not medical grade, but it works amazingly!
Diaper Rash Cream Spray by Boogie Bottoms, Travel Friendly No-Rub Touch Free Application for Sensitive Skin, from The Maker of Boogie Wipes, Over 200 Sprays per Bottle, 1.7 oz ссылка
Thank you all for the great tips! Will definitely try triple paste as well
My son recently had bad diaper rash and instead of using any wipes on him, I would put his booty under the kitchen sink water to rinse him and then lightly towel dry him off (until it got better).
I have one more suggestion. It looks like when he’s in the diaper, the red parts are folded together under the diaper. Try tucking the edges of the diaper up into the highest crease where his legs reach his body so the diaper keeps the skin from touching and so the redest parts are not covered by the diaper... if that makes sense. I realized after a while with my youngest that I had too much of her upper leg under the diaper and she started getting red like that
Could that be a chemical burn from a diaper 🤔 it could be a bunch of things though! I would just use nystatin first lather it and then use aquaphor on top so it could lock in the nystatin
I'd take him in cause that could be several different things. Meanwhile pull his leg rolls out of the diaper when you put a fresh one on.
Yup, what the PP said. Create a barrier. Apply the Nystatin, then apply Aquaphor, or Triple Paste. I suggest Triple Paste first. Once it’s cleared a considerable amount, then Aquaphor. If your son is prone to rashes, I would use Aquaphor with every diaper change. This is what we had to do with our youngest son, since he was so extra sensitive to most diapers.
I would put the Nystatin on then the aquaphor over it. That always did the trick for my daughter. The aquaphor sealed them cream in and allowed it to do it's job better
Also maybe try an oatmeal bath just to soothe the redness.
I hope he feels better soon ❤️
@love_linds, we have and they prescribed nystatin but it’s not doing anything
