Bilingual moms is there an easy way to teach your kids English and Spanish this is so hard especially When everyone around me speaks English.
My son is fully bilingual we speak 50/50 at home I try to repeat everything i say or ask him to do in both languages same with my daughter so far she understand spanish a little better and my son finds it easier to communicate in English
My parents spoke 3 languages in our house. The best route to take is to first say what you need to say then to follow and repeat yourself in the other language. My cousin went to school speaking no English even though he was born here and had a very very hard time. The kids become scared and can’t express themselves which is why I suggest speaking both back to back.
I do this!!!! My husband says I sound weird but that was/is my fear, him going to school and struggling because he doesn’t understand English. Everyone says “he’ll learn English in school, teach him Spanish at home.” but I want to teach him both.
Definitely start from that start my girls know no Spanish at all. Their grandma speaks it to them but that’s it. I’ve been on their dad about teaching them because I want them to know both. I also want to learn more then just basic words.
Speak more Spanish around them. I would mainly always speak to my girls in English but ever since my husband came into our life, they are learning more and more each day on how to say certain things in Spanish. Sometimes even say a sentence in Spanish.
They will pick it up quick.
I only speak Spanish to my daughter. I would tell my family and they would still speak English and Spanish. Now that she talks she only speaks in Spanish so everyone else does too. I’m not too worried about teaching her English since I know she’ll pick it up quickly later on
This!!! ^^^^^my friend did that with her son. He’s fluent in Spanish and is kind learning English now.
You have to stick with speaking spanish to your child all the time. Even if someone talks to them in English. You talk to them in spanish. My kids know both arabic and english. We only talk to them in arabic. Its easier for them to catch on to English later in school
Following lol I speak more Spanish to my son than I do English while his dad speaks to him in English more than Spanish 😑 But he understands both of us.
I’m having such a hard time with this too my husband is white and speaks only English and I speak both Spanish and English but it’s hard when it’s only me who speaks Spanish, I’m trying but I’ve come to the conclusion if she speaks only English oh well 🤷♀️ 😓
