Any one have kids with pet allergies? Like to cats. What were their symptoms and how did you find out?
My little story as to why.
My son has had this wheezing (on and off), coughing, watery red eyes since October. We got a cat when he was 4 months old and the kitten was 3 months old. He's now 8 months and his symptoms are getting worse. At first I was told it was a virus because he didnt have any other sympotoms and at the time he wasnt weezing. Then during thanksgiving he had a fever with a double ear infection and had gotten medication and than 3 weeks later he ended up with another ear infection then he got better on THE EARS. But he still has this wheezing, cough and watery eyes. The wheezing comes and goes so I figured he has asthma since his older brother and half sister has it also and this was the same symptoms they had also. BUT getting the medication it hasn't helped and normally by now it would be cleared up. So when we went to the doctors I was asked if we had a cat and she explained that because he has no fever with his symptoms and things come and go it could be a pet allergie or a respiratory allergy. I've been googling things but I was wondering if you mammas went through the same thing? He goes the 14th to have an emulation done and maybe a blood test to see if he has them
But just trying to figure out how you mammas knew .

We discovered my oldest daughters allergy right around 2 years of age.
Around certain cats (it seems to ne for male cats, but we don't know why) her eyes swell completely shut. This is either physical contact or when an indoor cat it occurs soon after walking into the home. My parents own a female cat and at most she gets watery and itchy eyes or sneezing. She's pretty much fine as long as she doesn't touch my parents cat. She may be a little sneezy after a visit. She gets sneezy and occasionally watery eyes with dogs as well.
We've never done the allergy test with her, but have been talking about it.

My son's eyes don't swell so he's not exactly allergic to our cat. I think it's more allergies towards them. We also have a male cat and he was fine at first but he's starting to learn to spray in his litter box only so far and he's been sick every since. He seems to be ok with touching him but the litter odor when he sprays goes through the whole house so I've been on top of it and I try to spray things. Maybe if we get him fixed it may help from spraying. We got him when my son was 4 months old and around 6 months he started to develop these signs of allergies towards him. He even coughs and sneezes around his cat tree. Idk how to wash the stuff on it because it doesn't come off. My son is good around dogs and other people's cats mostly females also. This is the first I've owned a male cat and it's been just an inside cat.
