It ensures that significant historical events are taught in the correct context. It recognizes LGBTQ individuals and their contributions to their communities, society, and history. They’re not teaching sexual orientation or what is done behind closed doors in a history class. They’re teaching history.

because lgbtq+ kids are more likely to be bullied, sexually harassed/assaulted, commit suicide, have violent encounters, etc. the more representation (like in history class as this law affects) the more tolerance and acceptance in society, and less lives damaged or lost.

Women and POC had to fight for their history to be taught. The LGBTQ community has had to fight for basic human rights.

I totally agree ! I feel like it’s our job as parents to teach our kids about that not the school ! Like they can’t teach religion but they can teach that ? I feel like it’s a very sensitive issue n should we should explain to our kids the best way we feel is right .

Honestly, I didnt see the reason, but it brought up a discussion with DH and I, there was laws passed for them, so of course, its gonna go in the history books! I see that being taught, however as far as their sexuality being taught, that isnt the schools place, just like religion.

My daughters school has a lgbt 🏳️🌈 club too pisses me off like really how bout teach them life skills not how to accept that gross bullshit smh 🤦🏽♀️
