This just in. My dad is quitting chemo. Apparently “quitters never win” wasn’t the right thing to say. Needless to say my head is a mess.

I’m so sorry. My mom also quit chemo and radiation, she had breast cancer for 6 years and when it spread to her brain she said she was tired of fighting. It’s hard to understand from an outside perspective and it’s okay to say anything and everything, there’s so many things I wish I had said to my mom before she passed but they were always things that I thought were “too mean to say to a dying person.”

His is a primary brain tumor, eight years ago he went through nine weeks of radiation and a year of chemo. This reoccurrence he went through two weeks of radiation, an immune therapy clinical trial and 2 of the 12 months of chemo.

I’m sorry. My dad fought for ten years before quitting. It’s a hard journey. I would encourage you to support whatever he has decided, because I know in my dads case he suffered a long time trying for everyone else. As soon as we told him we would support whatever he chose, it was easier for him to stop. Fuck cancer...will be thinking about you.

I am so sorry! I’ve heard of many people doing this lately. My great grandmother fought lung cancer for several years before she just couldn’t do it anymore. I see the hard situation both ways and it’s not easy. Just spend as much time with him as you can knowing he’s probably tired and scared as well.

My dad was on life support 9x in a short 3 month span my mom and middle sister thought that was okay ! I hated it as well as my oldest sister ,well 9x my dad pulled that shit off himself and said he’s going home he died peacefully the next day as I held his hand and with a smile on his face ! He was bedridden 3 yrs prior but,before that always healthy&strong ,”my niece passed from a rare brain cancer she fought 4yrs from 14 yrs old and also passed away with a smile on her face and even gave the date she wouldn’t be here at the end of the day they are suffering deeply holding onto their family they have to be told it’s okay to let go “was told this by a amazing nurse of over 30 yrs “wishing you better days ahead ,spend time with him all you can
