long story, but since you asked here ya go. nikki is a girl that i grew up with, she was transgender and had a hard home life with addict parents. she was staying with friends a lot and took comfort in meeting with men she found online. at the time she went missing, she was just short of her 18th birthday. she met a guy online, met up with him one night and he said he’d help her get her independent life in order. she apparently (this is speculation from the friends she stayed with) performed oral sex on him the first time they met. when she met up with him the next morning, he somehow found out that she was transgender (we don’t know how, or any other details) and became disgusted that they had been sexual together and killed her and left her body in a rural area. this was back in early June. after a few days, her mom reported her missing and we all went into action spreading flyers all over the west coast hoping to bring her home. and then early in December some hikers found a skull and the police found the rest of her remains. they’ve arrested the man she was with, but they aren’t charging him strongly and today they gave him bail.

i know. it’s just such a slap in the face to see people getting higher bail for possession or other crimes that didn’t hurt anyone but themselves, but murder gets a lower bail. the whole system is broken.
