To the mom at BJ's that gave me a disgusted look for letting my 3 year old sit down in the middle of the isle and cry out her tantrum. I see you, I also noticed your child who I believe is what 7 or 8 years old telling you I want this, I want that, I need this, I need that very bossy might I add, and you just gave in and gave that child everything they wanted to avoid a meltdown.. well I'll be darned if I give in to my child telling me what they want with an attitude and not taking no for an answer. Mind you this is the whole entire reason for her meltdown.. she wanted toys and I told her Christmas is coming soon and that she had plenty of toys at home.. which of course cued the crying. so instead of caving in, which trust me has happened before at times "because let's face it no mom/parent is perfect" I decided to sit there on the floor next to my daughter while she had her epic meltdown of the day. I rubbed her back, told her that I loved her, but not everything will be handed to her on a silver platter. Meaning you work for what you earn, nothing is handed to you in life for free. I was taught this growing up and my daughter is being taught this as well. My point Is I seen you today being walked all over by your 7/8 year old, I didn't give you a dirty look. So why do that to me? Everyone parents how they want to parent at the end of the day. I can promise you this, your child will still LOVE you even when you tell them NO.. you don't need to buy your child's LOVE. it's far more rewarding when your child stops their meltdown hugs you, and tells you on their own that they are sorry for acting out with a big kiss on the cheek. which my 3 year old did just that after a grueling 15 minute meltdown on the floor.. then to just give them everything they want to avoid tears being shed. I will be that parent on the floor with my child every single time, because I know when she is older she will respect me as her mom, she will truly understand the value of money, and that know matter what I am always there for her through the good and bad days. ❤ So many kids lack the respect today for their parents and elders. It's sad to see this. I'm hoping with telling my child no at times that this keeps her humble and kind, that this teaches her to respect others instead of a being a spoiled brat.

I needed this yesterday. It was a full moon, which I'm convinced prompted every toddler or child under 10 to act out. It's that time of the year again. It's hard to explain waiting to a toddler. I think you did an amazing job with your child. Thank you again for making me feel like I'm not alone with the ride out the tantrum idea. My husband and I ran to the grocery store after work and saw this poor father carrying his little girl out and trying to smile to everyone around didn't think he was killing the kid. He nodded at my husband and he nodded in return them whispered to me, that was us earlier, good father on how he's handling things. Again, you're not alone.

While I understand your sentiment and the point you’re trying to make, you did judge that other mom.

@onthegomomma, I get it. It’s easy to turn the tables and judge when someone is openly rude!

@ekko I don't get offended really, so i appreciate you commenting because it did open my eyes for me to see that I was judging her back. It can be hard with rude people. You don't parent your kids you're judged If you do parent your kids you're judged. There is never a happy medium today. ❤
