Okay mommas I need advice. My family is hounding me saying I need to stop giving my daughter a bottle (I’m a teen mom so I’m winging this stuff🤣) which I’m trying to wing her off because she only gets them at night or nap time. But she absolutely refuses to drink milk out of a sippy cup. She’ll taste it then throw it down. So therefore she only gets juice and water during the day and milk at bedtime or nap time. Is she ready to be taken off of a bottle? If not any advice on winging her off? She only will use the nuk silicone sippy and she also has a munchkin 360 cup she uses but any other sippy cup she won’t take.

My daughter is the same and she's 2.5
Don't just do cold turkey like people say. She will get dehydrated if she doesn't drink.
It's probably a comfort thing.

At one I dropped my girl cold Turkey off her bottle. They may not work for everyone though. The binky is what I will struggle with.

Same girl! And the only reason I haven’t just cold turkey removed them is bc it’s the only thing he teethes on, he won’t take anything but a binky. And I just can’t do it with all his teeth coming in at once rn

Being a teen mom doesnt make you less qualified in mothering since to be honest "mother knows best" stand your ground tell them thanks for your opinion and follow your baby when baby is ready baby will let you know, the mother bond with baby is supernatural and no one can mess with it! Be confident in yourself you have the answers within you

I would just take all of the bottles and throw them away. The later you wait, the harder it will be. Plus going to sleep with a bottle of milk will rot her teeth.

I slowly cut the amount in the bottle every few days till she was down to 1 oz then just stopped giving it to her. I think she realized it was getting smaller and smaller so she wasn't getting that much anyway and when I got rid of the bottles she didn't have an issue. There are sippy cups out there for little beginners that are similar to the bottle that might help.

Agree with the above user. I just cut my daughters off from using them completely and randomly. I did it right before their 1st birthdays and it took them both like a week to get used to it. “My mom was like give them time they’ll get thirsty and realize they have no choice.” Lol but yeah that’s what worked for us.

Just cold turkey with the bottles, otherwise my son would just keep preferring his bottle bc that’s what he’s use to. He fussed abt it for a day/ maybe two, and then it was done and over with and loves his 360 cups now.

No judgment because I definitely feel like my daughter isn’t ready. My mom just constantly hounds me about it so I feel pressured that I should take them from her.

@zadiebrooke13, yeah I wouldn’t. She’s still a baby and she’s clearly still attached to them and they comfort her. No harm in waiting. Especially since she’s not walking around with it hanging out of her mouth, it’s only when she sleeps and that’s how it was with my son. I cut him off go bottle besides nap and bed time because he wasn’t eating at around 20 months.

@zadiebrooke13 you might be a Teen Mom but you're a mom none the less yes you're young but you don't need to let people tell you what to do. Especially if you don't feel comfortable with it. Of course advice is always great but if you don't feel comfortable with that you don't have to do it. You do what you feel is best for your little girl.

My oldest was the same way. We took the bottle cold turkey and gave him a special “milk only” cup. He skipped sippy cups and went straight to straw cups. They’re easier and better for their teeth. He’ll still only drink milk from that kind of cup

My son is the exact same way! 1 and stubborn! He refuses milk from a sippy, and has to have a bottle for nap or bedtime of milk. He will only drink out of the nuk soft tip sippy for his water or juice. He doesn’t show any signs of it changing either lol

My daughter is the exact same! And she uses the same sippy too. I luckily got her to figure out how to drink out of the 360 cup though because she got curious about drinking out of people’s cups and after letting her drink out of a regular cup (with help of course) I introduced the 360 cup to her again and she instantly figured it out. But as of taking bottles away, she’s so stubborn! She’s a huge paci baby too. She loves having her pacifier especially when she’s sleepy. so I’m curious if that has anything to do with that at bed or nap time.

@zadiebrooke13, my son has never taken a binky, but is identical to your daughter with the whole sippy/bottle thing! My daughter though, she’s a binky fan lol. Two years old and still needs it for nap and bed time 🤦‍♀️ I took away during the day, but I don’t want to be up all night with her screaming for it, I’m pregnant and tired 😂
